Liberia’s Vice President enthralling interview with Dir. Kwame Oldpa Weeks

According to the Liberian Vice President, China and Liberia continue to maintain strong bilateral ties, in the midst of the Covid_19 crisis, China has made several donations to the Liberian government. Through its Embassy near Monrovia, China presented rice to the Office of Liberia’s Vice President, Jewel Howard-Taylor.

Speaking about the donation in an interview with the Liberia News Agency, the Veep stated that the Chinese Government has been very supportive of President Weah’s Government.

Her Office is responsible for the Group of 77, which is the agency that deals with people who are disabled.

The interview was conducted by Kwame Oldpa Weeks, Director General of the Liberia News Agency.

She said China has made quite a number of donations to Liberia.

A year ago, she said her office got some vehicles from China to identify the group of 77 nationwide. “China continue to provide rice, scholarships, among others”, the VP narrated.

When asked about the State of Group of 77, she stated that for the first time, her office has managed to identify where members of the group are across Liberia.

She cited through the scholarships, people living with disabilities are pursuing higher education and graduating with master degrees.

She said, her vision is to make sure the group of 77 will someday be independent and self sufficient.

During the interview she stated that disability doesn’t mean total inability, she also spoke on issues relating to domestic violence and gender inequality.
