VP Taylor Launches ‘Business for Peace Community Development Foundation’ In Liberia

The Business for Peace Community Development Foundation (B4P CODEFOUND) officially launched its Liberian operations on June 2, 2023 in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The foundation, which is registered in the United States and Liberia, according to a release is a non-profit organization that empowers women, girls, and youth groups in Liberia and the Diaspora.

The launch was attended by Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor, who served as the chief launcher including Bong County Superintendent, Esther Walker, LBDI Manager Abraham Flomo, and representatives from civil society and faith-based organizations.

In her remarks, Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor praised the foundation for its work to empower women and girls, noting that economic empowerment is the best way to help women and girls achieve their full potential.

“I am very pleased to be here today to launch the Business for Peace Community Development Foundation, and this is a very important organization that will do great things for women, girls, and youth in Liberia. I encourage all of you to take advantage of the opportunities that B4P CODEFOUND provides,” she stated.

She also encouraged women to unite and rise above the occasion in maintaining their relevance in Liberia.

The founder and executive director of B4P CODEFOUND, Lindora Howard-Diawara, said that the foundation was born out of her graduate studies at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame.

She said that the foundation is committed to working with women, girls, and youth to build peace and development in Liberia. “I am very excited to launch B4P CODEFOUND in Liberia.”

“We have a lot of work to do, but I am confident that we can make a real difference in the lives of women, girls, and youth in Liberia and the diaspora,” Madame Howard-Diawara mentioned.

Bong County Superintendent Esther Walker said: “I am very proud to have B4P CODEFOUND in Bong County. This organization will do a lot of good work in our community. I encourage all of you to support B4P CODEFOUND.”

B4P CODEFOUND has a number of programs and initiatives that it will be implementing in Liberia. These include: a women’s empowerment program that will provide training and support to women entrepreneurs; a girls’ education program that will provide scholarships and other support to girls who want to attend school; and a youth leadership program that will train young people to become leaders in their communities.

The foundation is also planning to establish a number of development projects in Liberia, including a microfinance institution that will provide loans to women and girls, a community center that will provide a space for women, girls, and youth to come together and learn, and a farm that will provide food and income for women and girls.

B4P CODEFOUND is a new organization, but it has a strong team of experienced professionals who are committed to making a difference in Liberia. The foundation is well-positioned to make a significant impact on the lives of women, girls, and youth in Liberia.
