Burna Boy Speaks Out Following Recent Backlash After Greater Lagos Concert

After facing heavy criticism for kicking a fan who ran onto the stage during his performance at the Greater Lagos concert, Burna Boy has shared his side of the story.

The “Bundle by Joy” singer took to his Instagram story in response saying, “It was a free show. I was supposed to perform for 10 minutes but gave almost an hour. Everyone knows my rule about jumping on stage and startling me while I perform. I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. But don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year.”

The backlash started after a video of the incident went viral. In it, Burna Boy was kicking the fan who rushed toward him. Even after the fan was removed, Burna Boy stopped performing and walked off the stage. The event, which took place on New Year’s Eve, sparked widespread criticism online.

However, after Burna Boy’s explanation, many fans came to his defense. One Instagram user wrote, “People are complaining, but did you see how he had to stop for a few minutes? It probably shocked him, and he needed time to process what happened! Celebrities are humans too.”

Another user commented, “Everyone is dealing with something, whether they’re famous or not. Fans need to stop jumping on stage like that. It might be fan love, but what if it isn’t?”

A third fan added, “He’s been clear about not liking this kind of behavior. It’s sad that fans keep trying it. Let’s not stress Burna like this. He’s human too.”
