Boxer Mayweather To Finance George Floyd’s Funeral

US boxer, Floyd Mayweather, has pledged to finance the burial of George Floyd.

George Floyd was killed on Monday May 25, 2020, by a former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Michael Chauvin.

Chauvin has since been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.

In a viral video, Chauvin was seen kneeling on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes 46 seconds after his arrest, leading to his death.

George Floyd was accused of using a fake $20 note to buy cigarette from a convenience store.

His death has spiked waves of bloody and violent protests across the United States, with over 4,000 people so far arrested and Curfews imposed in about 40 states.

The US National Guard has been activated in about 15 States as well as violence escalates by the day.

And the former five-division world champion’s promotional company, Mayweather Productions, has taken to Twitter to confirm that indeed he had made the offer.

Local media reports in the US have also claimed that George Floyd’s family have accepted.
