The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has directed all licensed financial institutions in Ghana to ensure that the Ghana Card is used for all financial transactions.
BoG served the directive in a notice signed by it Secretary, Samuel Thompson.
According to the notice, the directive is in furtherance of BoG’s objective of ensuring the safety of the financial system.
The Central Bank says the directive is pursuant to Regulation 7 of the National Identity Register, 2012 (L.I. 2111).
“The Ghana Card shall be the only identification card that will be used to undertake transactions at all Bank of Ghana licensed and regulated financial institutions,” the BoG said.
