Barcelona’s talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly retired from international football.
A DW television report monitored by African Entertainment said the former Arsenal striker announced his retirement in a letter to the Gabonese football federation.
In the said letter, Aubameyang aged 32, reportedly told the federation that “After 13 years of pride in representing my country, I announce that I am ending my international career. I would like to thank the Gabonese people and all those who have supported me in good and bad times”.
Aubameyang first played for Gabon at the international level in March 2009.
That was after he switched allegiance to Gabon, having been in the French town of Laval and at the time eligible to play for France at the international level.
He scored 30 times in 72 appearances across all competitions for Gabon.
He failed to feature for Gabon in the delayed Afcon 2021 held in Cameroon this year.
