Swedru-based Rapper Kwaw Kese seems extremely obsessed at a social media campaign to revive music genre and dance ‘Azonto’.
The Azonto dance which is known to have originated from the coastal towns in Greater Accra including Chorkor, Jamestown, Teshie, etc took the world by storm between 2011 and 2014.
Several musicians such as Sarkodie, Guru, Fuse ODG, Gasmilla, E.L, were major proponents of the sound and gained worldwide popularity by doing so.
However, in the past week, Rappers Sarkodie and E.L have taken to social media to start a campaign to revive the genre.
Whiles some are excited about the move, others are skeptical, one of whom is fellow rapper Kwaw Kese.
The ‘Dondo’ hitmaker took to his twitter page to express his displeasure saying the genre was dead and should be allowed to rest in peace.
He said in a first tweet “For once let’s respect the dead wai, #Azonto died long time !!! Let him Rest In Peace”
And a second “He went on to add the Agenda should be centered around Ghanaian music as a whole not just about Azonto.”

Kwaw Kese got some support for sharing his opinion but was also not spared from trolls.
One twitter user aid “So if now u are ask ,what kind of genre or artist are u ? U will tell us Ghana music ryt ? The agenda should be a certain genre from Ghana music.”
E.L and Sarkodie have released a song titled ‘Revival’ to push the agenda.
