Chaka Chaka was the first African child to appear on South African television in 1981 in the talent show Sugar Shack.
She started singing in 1985 at the age of nineteen when Phil Hollis discovered her. Her debut album I’m in Love With a DJ, sold over 35,000 copies and became a hit. Her popular songs include I’m Burning Up, I Cry for Freedom, Sangoma, Motherland and Umqombothi.
Chaka Chaka had a rough childhood but now she owns a limousine company together with her husband, along with this she has her own music label and her own production company. She also teaches literacy the University of South Africa and is associated with several charitable organizations and NGOs. She admires her mother the most and has met many influential personalities like Nelson Mandela throughout her carrier.
