Tottenham Hotspur football club have announced that they have reached a mutual decision to end their contract with head coach Antonio Conte.
Antonio Conte was expected to exit his post in the first week of the international break following an explosive press conference in wake of their 3-3 draw with Southampton, when the coach lashed out at his players and suggesting ownership should be questioned for the club’s trophy record.
The club therefore waited until late on Sunday night to announce his departure, revealing in a statement:
“We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement. We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future.
“Cristian Stellini will take the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as Assistant Head Coach.”
