Americans Defy Covid-19 Restrictions, Flock Beaches, Boardwalks

Scores of Americans flocked beaches and boardwalks on Saturday, May 23, 2020, which marked this year’s Memorial Day.

Their actions were in gross defiance of the coronavirus restrictions in the States.

Photos seen on Twitter and other American media platforms show large crowds on beaches and at boardwalks.

That is despite warnings from health officials.

American has recorded over 1.6 million confirmed cases of coronavirus and over 93,000 deaths related to the virus.

There are fears that mass gatherings could lead to a resurgence of the virus in America.

But Americans do not seem concerned about the health crisis facing their country.

They are out on the beaches taking sunbaths after two months of lockdown.

Beaches from the East coast to the West coast and along the southern tip in Florida, Texas and more were packed, and lakes saw an influx of boaters and party people, according to local media reports.

Reports say some of them practiced social distancing.

Some areas had to turn away crowds, so great was the number seeking some sunshine and surf, reports say.
