Global icons Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have dropped the electrifying Missionary short film, coinciding with the release of Snoop’s highly anticipated studio album, Missionary. Produced by Dr. Dre under Death Row, Aftermath, and Interscope, the album represents a monumental collaboration between the two legends.

Among the standout tracks is “Last Dance With Mary Jane,” featuring Tom Petty and Jelly Roll, built around a sample of Petty’s classic “Mary Jane’s Last Dance.” According to Dr. Dre, Petty had long envisioned this collaboration. “I’ve got this video clip of Tom Petty saying, ‘If Dre ever samples Mary Jane’s Last Dance, he’s going to have an instant hit,’” Dre shared with the Los Angeles Times. He emphasized the trust underpinning their partnership: “Snoop’s putting his entire career, his legacy, and everything he’s built in my hands. I have to nurture that and present it in the right way.”

Missionary marks the duo’s first full-length collaboration since Snoop’s groundbreaking 1993 debut, Doggystyle. This project is more than just an album—it’s a cultural milestone that reinforces their legendary status while heralding a new chapter in their creative journey. “We’re still in love with what we do,” Snoop explained. “I’m peaking right now, and Dr. Dre sees that. He brings out the best in me—he’s meticulous about everything: my lyrics, delivery, the music, and the concept of the songs.”
