Normani sparked excitement among her fans, affectionately known as #NormaniNation, on during an interview with Rolling Stone on Monday (December 9) this week.
While revealing plans for a 2025 tour in support of her debut solo album Dopamine and teasing its follow-up, she dropped another bombshell: her admiration for South African sensation Tyla.
“I love me some Tyla,” Normani gushed, calling the breakout artist a “superstar” whose talent is undeniable. “I can clock a star when I see one. She just does it for me.” Tyla’s self-titled album, which dominated charts in 2024, made such an impression that Normani named it one of her favorite projects of the year.
It also came as no shock when the “Jump” hit maker made it to Normani’s Spotify Wrapped of 2024.
Fans were even more thrilled when the former Fifth Harmony member hinted at a potential collaboration with the Water hitmaker.
“I have to do something with her for sure, hopefully in the near future,” Normani teased. “Maybe we’ll make it happen in the new year. That would be really fun.”
The praise comes hot on the heels of Normani’s latest release, Personal, a surprise reunion track with Khalid, her Love Lies collaborator and close friend. While she’s yet to confirm a release date for her sophomore album, her growing interest in teaming up with artists like Tyla has fans eager to see what’s next.
Tyla, who gained global attention with her captivating voice, electrifying performances, and viral hits, has been steadily carving her place as a global superstar. Receiving such glowing recognition from an artist of Normani’s caliber is not only a testament to her talent but also a clear indicator of her rising star status.
As fans of both artists speculate about what their combined creative forces could produce, one thing is certain: a Normani-Tyla collaboration would be a moment to remember.
