Renowned football manager José Mourinho has expressed his hopes that the setbacks he’s encountered in European competitions are merely a result of bad luck. Reflecting on his experiences, Mourinho cited the Budapest final and his subsequent suspension as a turning point.
“Since that final, since my suspension, the things that happened to us… we didn’t play Champions League because of a penalty on the 120th-minute penalty that only the fourth official saw,” Mourinho recalled.
Mourinho also referenced a recent match where VAR failed to detect one of three penalties. “Today, we come here, and the VAR is considered one of the best VARs, he didn’t see one of three penalties. I just hope it’s random.”
Mourinho acknowledged that he has paid for his suspension and is eager to put the past behind him. “I paid for the suspension, and I hope that it’s over. I pray that this is just bad luck.“
