Pastor Daniel Olukoya, the senior pastor of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, shared a shocking experience from his university days during a Sunday service. The incident occurred in 1976 when Olukoya was a student at the University of Lagos.
Olukoya and his friends had rushed a roommate to the hospital after an accident. After their friend was admitted, they were instructed to leave and return the next morning. As they exited the hospital, they encountered a woman approaching them with a large pot balanced on her head. To their surprise, she was completely naked.
While his friends fled in fear, Olukoya stood his ground, convinced that the woman was a spirit. He addressed her directly, asking why she was walking around naked with a pot on her head in the middle of the night.
The woman revealed that she had studied in the United Kingdom but had been advised by a native doctor that the only way to escape her family’s troubles was to perform a naked sacrifice. Olukoya encouraged her to turn to Jesus for help instead, but she dismissed his advice, telling him to mind his own business.
Reflecting on this encounter, Olukoya noted that oppression can drive even the educated into bondage.
