Nigerian singer Joeboy is preparing to release his third studio album, “Viva Lavida,” on March 28th through his own label, Young Legend. To build anticipation, he has released a new single titled “Taxi Driver.”
“Taxi Driver” showcases Joeboy’s signature blend of catchy melodies and relatable, emotional lyrics. In this track, he expresses his regret over a relationship where his feelings were disregarded. The song’s opening lines, which reflect on the disillusionment of love, are characteristic of Joeboy’s honest portrayal of complex romantic experiences. Produced by Xtofa and Tempoe, the mid-tempo track creates a light, airy feeling that contrasts with the song’s themes of romantic disappointment.
Joeboy teased “Taxi Driver” with a series of short comedic videos set in a taxi, where he plays the driver. These sketches feature popular Nigerian comedians and online personalities, including Layi Wasabi, Asher Kine, and Taaooma, each sharing stories of relationship woes.
Joeboy explains that the song is inspired by the intimate conversations that often happen in taxis, where people feel comfortable sharing their personal stories. He states that “Taxi Driver” aims to capture those moments of vulnerability within the vibrant setting of Lagos.
