Davido Postpones “5ive” Album Release, Possibly Out of Respect for Ramadan

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, known globally as Davido, has pushed back the release of his highly anticipated fifth studio album, “5ive,” by over a month. Initially slated for release on March 15, 2025, the album is now expected to drop on April 18th.

While Davido and his team have remained tight-lipped about the specific reasons behind the delay, fans and industry insiders speculate that the decision may be a gesture of respect for the holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin in early April 2025. Ramadan is a period of fasting, reflection, and prayer for Muslims worldwide, and it’s not uncommon for artists to postpone releases or major promotional activities during this time.1

The new release date is prominently displayed on Apple Music, one of the leading music streaming platforms, confirming the change.

This news comes after the massive success of Davido’s previous album, “Timeless,” released in 2024. “Timeless” spawned global hits like “Unavailable” and “Feel,” cementing Davido’s status as a top-tier international artist.

Before the delay, Davido had been actively building anticipation for “5ive,” hinting that it would be a game-changer in his career. He mentioned that he had been relentlessly working in the studio, experimenting with fresh sounds and collaborating with prominent producers and artists. This has further fueled excitement among his fans, who are eagerly waiting to hear what he has in store.

Despite the postponement, fans are still buzzing with anticipation for “5ive.” Many have taken to social media to express their understanding and support for Davido’s decision, while others are simply counting down the days until they can finally listen to the new album.
