Zanzibar will be the heart of African music on February 26th, hosting the continent’s most prestigious music awards ceremony. This not-to-be-missed event celebrates the rich diversity of music from Africa and its diaspora, bringing together top talent from across the globe.
A stellar lineup of artists will grace the stage, including icons like Rema, Diamond Platnumz, Yemi Alade, Fally Ipupa, Joshua Baraka, and Titom & Yuppe, alongside many other renowned musicians. Tickets are available now via the ‘Senjaro’ app.
The Trace 2025 Awards will showcase artists from over 30 countries across Africa, South America, the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean, and Europe. Competing in 24 categories, the awards span a wide array of genres, from afrobeat, dancehall, and hip-hop to afro-pop, mbalax, amapiano, zouk, kizomba, genge, coupé-décalé, bongo flava, soukous, gospel, rap, raï, kompa, RnB, and rumba.
Tanzania will be strongly represented by Diamond Platnumz, Alikiba, Zuchu, Marioo, Nandy, Abigail Chams, and Young Lunya. Ivory Coast will feature stars like Didi B, Josey, Tamsir, KS Bloom, Team Paiya, and HIMRA. The DRC will shine with Fally Ipupa, Innoss’B, and Gaz Mawete, while Nigeria boasts King Promise, Qing Madi, producer P Priime, and the celebrated Rema and Yemi Alade.
Kenya’s Bien will take the stage, alongside Senegal’s Wally Seck. South Africa will be represented by Makhadzi and the duo Titom & Yuppe. The diverse lineup also includes Sabrina (Cameroon), DJ Moh Green (Algeria), Chelsea Dinorath (Angola), Joé Dwet Filé (France/Haiti), Nesly (Martinique/French Guiana), Barth (Réunion Island), Kenny Haiti (Haiti), and Joshua Baraka (Uganda).
The Compozers, a leading Afrobeat band, will serve as the house band, while the renowned choreographer Sherrie Silver will be responsible for the electrifying choreography. Silver, known for her work on Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” video, will bring her exceptional talent to the 2025 Trace Awards, promising an unforgettable night of music, emotion, and spectacular performances.
The Trace Awards & Summit 2025 will be happening next week in Zanzibar from February 24 to 26th.
