Creative Art Industry Needs Gov’t’s Support – Rex Omar

Ghanaian Highlife musician, Rex Owusu Marfo, popularly known as Rex Omar, has called on the Ghanaian government to support its Creative Arts Industry during the Coronavirus outbreak.

He noted that since the ban on large gatherings, in an attempt to stem the spread of Covid-19, the industry has been hit with serious hardship.

According to him, the entertainment industry is suffering and if action is not taken, he fears it may collapse as many shows had to be cancelled due to the no social gathering directive.

“The music industry has suffered a lot. Taking a good look at the lockdown in the country shows like 3music Awards and more have been banned,” he noted.

In an interview on Kasapa Entertainment Show with Host, Eddie Ray, the GHAMRO chairman also stated that as government is reaching out to other industries, the creative industry should not be left out.

“If there is a way, the Government should look at the creative industry because it has suffered a lot”, Rex Omar stated.

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) had earlier made similar appeal.
