Billions Of Naira Donated To Fight Coronavirus In Nigeria

Billions of naira have been donated by some wealthy individuals and organizations towards the fight against the deadly coronavirus.

African Entertainment has been tracking the donations to the Nigerian Government and institutions overseeing the fight against the virus.

Donated amounts so far, range between 10 million naira and 11 billion naira.

These contributions will be used to fund medical centres, procure Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) among others to stem the spread of the disease.

Some wealthy individuals in the private sector such as Femi Otedola, Aliko Dangote, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Folorunsho Alakija, Access Bank, GT Bank donated an amount of one billion naira each.

UBA donated two billion naira, NNPC donated eleven million naira and Tu Face Idibia donated ten million naira.

President Muhammadu Buhari in a press statement, applauded them for standing up to be counted in the fight against coronavirus.

Ghana Update

African Entertainment has also been monitoring the pandemic situation in West African nation, Ghana where infections rate has surged to 195 as at April 1, 2020.

Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his vice Dr Mahammudu Bawumia, their ministers and deputies, have donated towards the fight against the virus in Ghana.

A Covid-19 National Trust Fund has been set up by Mr Akufo-Addo with individuals encouraged to donate to the Fund.
