MTN Hit Maker Seasoned Judges
The Auditions of the 6th season of MTN Hit Maker saw over 200 young talents converged at the Charterhouse Studios to battle out for a slot and hopefully proceed to the next stage of the competition – alas! Twenty-four of them have finally been selected and they would be heading to a boot camp outside Accra, where it would be trimmed to twelve under the auspices of seasoned judges – Richie Mensah, Magnum and DJ Breezy.
Before this twenty-four were selected, we gathered that the search panel had to meet weekly to listen to and shortlists from the thousands of demos that had been sent in from all over the country and beyond. The format for this face to face was straightforward and separated the most talented from those who had a lot of help in producing their demos. Contestants were given two chances to perform for the panel after which a decision was made based on nothing but delivery. From singing to rapping to dancehall, every act that hit the stage knew exactly what was at stake, hence brought everything they had to impress the panel. But as it is a competition, despite a blitz of a stunning display of talents, the judges had to make their cut.
“The talents that auditioned this year were absolutely incredible and they are upbeat about a swell season as the final 12 could be very difficult to select. To be a winner, we are looking beyond just the talent, but also originality and showmanship.” The three-panel members told us.
Once the musical-battle which is sponsored by MTN, produced by Charterhouse and supported by Huawei, starts, we have been hinted that EIB’s Giovani Caleb and Berla Mundi would play host from Saturday 19th August on GhOne TV and Metro TV, 7 pm and 8 pm respectively and on Sunday on UTV at 3 pm, TV3 at 5 pm, 4Syte TV at 6 pm and Joy Prime at 8 pm.
