MMC signee, Lord Paper and his ‘Awurama’ risqué music video – which saw him and a female model engaged in steamy sexual moves – came too explicit that it got the entire country talking, but the artiste thinks that instead of praising Ghanaians for the acceptance, he would rather lash them for misinterpreting his work.
“My song itself was soul music; it was [about] love. There’re people who can do those kinds of songs, let’s say James Brown, Fela Kuti…and it’s amazing but the video concept was by Fiifi Grey. We were discussing the concept and I thought it was cool…we are going to be making love in the video, so I was like ‘cool let’s do this’. I didn’t even know it was going to blow or it was going to trend that fast but within that period of time, five hours, I got to know how much Ghanaians are perverts.” He told Natalia Andoh on Class91.3FM.
He reminded all that, the reason for calling Ghanaians such is because the moment the video came out, they didn’t look deep into the beauty and art of the song, rather they misinterpreted the whole effort. He made it known that a lot went into the video and he deserves credit for his boldness.
