Ghana and ‘Keteke’ movie lost out big time from the 13th African Movie Academy Awards ceremony which took place over the weekend at the Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Akin Omotoso, Nkem Owoh, “76”, and “Felicite”, were all among the winners for the year.
Though Ghana’s “Keteke” produced by Peter Sedufia secured three nominations, it could not come back home with any award, “not because the movie wasn’t topnotch but because other contenders were equally solid.” A source inside the team told African Entertainment.
This was a message that the Ghanaian contingent put across to their fans after losing out on the prize, “Hi people, team KETEKE was at the AMAAs. Unfortunately, we didn’t bring the awards home. But, I must say I’m glad, and very excited for this feat. To have a debut film nominated in such a prestigious award scheme, and is in same category with some of the industry’s existing best of the best. I am honoured. Thank you all for your support, and thanks to my casts and crew. I’m truly inspired to make an even better film than KETEKE. We will grow together.”
Hopefully, next year Ghana shall come big and win home a gong.
