Police in South Africa have announced the arrests of two persons in connection with the mass shootings in a Soweto drinking bar.
The tavern shootings over the weekend left a total of 19 persons dead.
As African Entertainment earlier reported, 15 individuals were shot dead in a bar in Soweto.
Four other persons were later shot dead in a bar in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal.
South African, however, do not think the two shooting incidents are related.
The arrests were announced when the minister for police, Bheki Cele, on Monday received a report on the mass shootings.
Commenting on the shootings in a statement, the police said the arrest of the two linked to the Pietermaritzburg shooting was “a first step of bringing to book all those who orchestrated one of the country’s bloodiest weekends”.
According to the police, some of its response team had been deployed to Soweto to assist with policing in response to the needs of the community.
