Former reality TV star, Vimbai Mutinhiri recently rocked some tables and got herself a spot on Nigerian headlines. Yesterday, the Zimbabwean TV host decided to share her thoughts on some female celebrities who make a career of deceiving young girls with the fantastic life of social media perfection while in truth, they don’t make money off their businesses enough to maintain the lifestyle they pass off.
In her words:
“If your expensive handbag is a gift, that’s ok. If your first luxury car was a gift from hubby that’s great. If you travel in luxury courtesy of bae that’s cool too. If your talent is social media, embrace it and earn off it. BUT please stop lying to young girls about how hard you have worked, and giving terrible advice about how to build this or that and how to be successful in business or have a high flying career. STOP IT!! If your business hasn’t made at least N20m turnover per annum, please just book a seat in the audience and pay attention to those who have done it. There is no shame in it and it doesn’t make you any less of a respectable woman. Making it in life begins with harnessing your truth 👌🏾”
You might need to put in caps ” If you don’t make at least N20 million turn over per annum, sit in the audience!
Following the massive response Vimbai received from her headline-making post, the actress decided to further address the issue which some celebrities took personal. See her Instagram post today:
Gosh! I'm pretty overwhelmed at the response to my last post. A word of reassurance – I believe honest, hard work pays! I have seen so many people rise. Keep working your job with diligence, keep pushing your business. I know its hard, but not having peace of mind is harder. There are genuine success stories out there, and there's no reason why yours can't be one of them. An entire generation needs your story. From grass to grace. It can be done ✅
Interestingly, Vimbai moved to Nigeria a few years back and has been doing quite well in the industry.
