South African comedian and host for Comedy Central’s Daily Show, Trevor Noah has won his very first Emmy. He won the award in Los Angeles over the weekend for his YouTube Comedy special, The Daily Show: Between The Scenes, beating the likes of Honest Trailers, The Star Wars Show , Behind the Vice and Epic Rap Battles of History in the Short Form Variety Series Category.
Trevor was not at the awards ceremony, as he was performing at his stand up show in Washington DC.
Trevor is South Africa’s Man Crush this Monday as he is being celebrated nation-wide by the South African government, the media, colleagues in the creative arts industry, fans, the Economic Freedom Fighters party (EFF) to mention a few.
Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun was on Friday presented with the hosting right of the 2017 Best of Nollywood Awards at his Oke Mosan Abeokuta Office.
Practitioners in the creative arts and entertainment industry, met with the governor for the presentation ceremony . At the presentation were Executive Producer BON Awards, Seun Oloketuyi and Nollywood actors like Mr Latin, Segun Arinze, Aisha Lawal to mention a few.
The BON Awards is an annual event organized by the Nest of Nollywood magazine to recognize and honour outstanding achievement in the Nigerian entertainment industry. The first edition was held in Lagos State and the awards have since been held in different states across the country. Award categories include: Best lead actor in English and Yoruba film, Best Supporting Actor, Best Promising Act of the Year, Best Child Actor, Movie with the Best Social Message to mention a few.
The award ceremony is scheduled to hold in Abeokuta on the 16th of December, 2017.
Uganda’s dance group, The Triple Ghetto Kids got another worldwide showcase as they performed “Unforgettable” with French Montana and Swae Lee at the BET Awards in Los Angeles over the weekend. This performance comes after French featured them in his latest video “Unforgettable”
The Ghetto Kids were first known when they performed Eddy Kenzo’s hit song “Sitya Loss”. Billboard ranked them 11th Best performance out of the 14 Performances at the awards ceremony ahead of DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One”, SZA and Trey Songz.
The Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, venue of the just concluded BET International Awards couldn’t contain the heat of slayage that was unleashed from the silver carpet to the main auditorium, as prominent United States actresses, style icons and African entertainment stars attended the awards ceremony.
Right there in the midst of the United States stars, South Africa’s own international actress, Pearl Thusi shown bright like a diamond with “Pearlfection” and caught the eyes of a popular fashion magazine to make the top 20 favorite looks alongside the likes of Remy Ma, Jada Pinkett Smith, Amber Rose, Blac Chyna and Queen Latifah in her Casper Designer slit gown.
South African actress and event host, Nomzamo Mbatha has secured a huge gig; she will be co-hosting the BET international awards alongside African-American actress, TV host and model, Eva Marcille.
Nomzamo made the announcement on social media to the delight of fans and colleagues “Still hasn’t sunk in yet. Proud to announce that I will be co- hosting the BET Awards International ceremony, Saturday alongside Eva Marcille” wriote Nomzamo.
She has since been receiving congratulatory messages. Bonang Matheba who shares the same PR company as Nomzamo also congratulated her saying “Guuurrrlllll!!! So. Much. To. Celebrate!! Congratulations!!”

International Congolese award winning artist, Awilo Logombo will on the 24th of June be setting the atmosphere on fire as he headlines the United Kingdom’s Malawian’s biggest event, Malawi Achievers Award at the five-star Marriot Hotel in Leicester.
Faith Mussa will also be performing and a classy Disc Jockey and an outstanding UK-based Malawian event host will on standby. Organisers of the event promise that this year’s event will be much bigger than ever with an entertainment package that consists of the biggest name in the Malawian-UK entertainment sphere.
