How Ubi Franklin Escaped Being Stabbed by a Chinese Man

May 10, 2017
Post Image

Wonders they say will never end! I am not sure how to make sense of Made Men Music CEO, Ubi Franklin’s  experience in the hands of a Chinese man at LifeMate Furniture at the Palms Lekki. He literally escaped death by a whisker when he attempted to make enquiries about a service he had paid for.

Nigerians have condemned the unwholesome act, questioning how a citizen can suffer such treatment in the hands of a foreigner. Ubi narrates his ordeal…

“Earlier today I was at LIFEMATE furniture show room at the palms Lekki to enquire about a service I paid for that wasn’t attended to. I was then asked by a junior staff (Nigerian) to speak to his “OGA” (a Chinese man). The Chinese man paid me no attention when I approached him with my concerns, he rather walked away as I was still trying to make my concerns known to him. So I followed up to say his attitude was unacceptable and then proceeded to leave the shop since he wasn’t going to pay me any attention or courtesy as a returning customer. As I was walking out the door I heard someone scream, I turned my back, only for me to see the Chinese man running towards me with two knives. But for the quick intervention of my cousin the story would have been different.
I handed him over to the police who then transferred him to Maroko police station and he was asked why he wanted to stab me and he said Cos I said “see this Chinese man o” .
Anyways God got me covered Physically and spiritually 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾”‘

Cassper Calls Reconciliation with AKA a Publicity Stunt

May 8, 2017
Post Image

I am tempted to ask – is there anything celebrities cannot do to pull a publicity stunt?

Cassper released his third album – Thuto over the course of the weekend and made a shocking revelation during his interview with Metro FM’s DJ Fresh at the launch. He revealed that the hug that himself and fellow rapper, AKA shared after his Fill Up Orlando gig which signalled an end to their long standing beef to fans and the media was a calculated PR exercise staged by AKA, and  he just played along.

“I say on the album n***ars ask for forgiveness in public just for thev PR. It was a well calculated move. In the morning I saw the tweets and I already knew what was going on. He wanted to come take picture so everyone could see. I acted stupid but I knew what was going on so I smiled. I let people play whatever they want to play. If you want to be fake, then do it. If it was genuine that we were cool, then we would have still been cool now because I still haven’t done anything wrong. But if you have a bitter heart it will come out, you will tweet these things” said Cassper

Cassper added that he would never work with AKA as it is like making a child together.  So beef season was never over, as always, fans are the media are the audience.

Riky Rick Talks Redefining Cool as He Covers GQ Style Mag Latest Issue

May 7, 2017
Post Image

Former Mabala Noise rapper, Riky Rick is the trendy star gracing the South African edition of the GQ Style Mag’s latest issue. Over time, Riky has created a niche for himself as a stylish rapper. His rare combos stand him out on red carpets and at events.

riky-rick-talks-redefining-cool-as-he-covers-gq-style-mag-latest-issue1

He inspired kids with his story of redefining cool by sticking to what many termed weird till he became celebrated. Before the mag hits shelves across South Africa tomorrow, learn a thing or two from his inspirational story.

Not too long ago me and my group of friends were considered weirdos because of our sense of style. We were laughed at by the commercial crowd for the way we cut our hair and the way we wore “weird” clothes. People like @theonlyscoopmakhathini@mrs_mome @bhubesii_kobayashi@okmalumkoolkat @u_sanele@stilomagolide @mkayfrash@thegooddokta @phikomdi1 and many others took me in and taught me its okay to be different. They gave me an opportunity to be a part of redefining COOL. Not from an office in Bryanston but from a sneaker store in Melville. Without them in my life I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Without them I would’ve been lost.

I say that to say this. Any kid out there who thinks they do not have a voice that represents them or feels like society is not ready for the ideas they have, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There are a million kids just like you out there. Find them, Get together and change the culture for those who will come after you. This cover is not tick on my resume but it is a smoke signal for you guys to run through the gates before they figure out a way to lock you out again. Dont get caught in the ego wars. Identify the people who believe in what you believe and teach them what you may have learnt on the road to success.
Thank you @gqsouthafrica for giving this Venda kid from KwaMashu a chance to SHINE and tell his story. I am forever grateful. #StayShining#CottonEatersNeverDie 📸: @sachawaldman / ISSUE DROPS MONDAY 8th MAY NATIONWIDE / please go get it and actually read the story inside 👊🏾

Hush Puppi Writes a Letter to the Ghetto Kid

May 5, 2017
Post Image

Lavish Malaysia based Nigerian big boy and self-acclaimed hard worker and philanthropist, Hush Puppi, who made headlines for calling Davido out after spending N11.4 million in one night in a club in Lagos, Nigeria is encouraging ghetto kids like himself that it is possible to rise from ground zero to dining with kings if they don’t put their dreams in the hands of the government or any rich godfather in their neighbourhood.

Hush Puppi identified with the ghetto kid’s challenges, sharing how he rode on bikes to sell clothes to big boys while in the Bariga and Oworonsoki hood of Lagos.

His lengthy admonishment garnered many positive comments from fans who thanked him for inspiring them. He wrote:

Letter to the Ghetto Kid: As a man that I am today who developed from being one of you guys, who went through the same struggles you are presently going through, who had to run and jump hurdles where other kids just walk past the same situation in a better environment with better resources and much provisions, I know the society do not expect you to make it, the government don't care about your future, they toy and joke around making rules and laws that only affect you and benefit the rich. You lack everything it requires to become who you might have loved to be, do the things you would have loved to do or to live the life you may have seen on tv or the internet, which I know you even have limited access to because there's never power supply for such, which means you are deprived most of the things that can be learnt through tv and internet in the first place which makes your dreams smaller, quicker to fade away but I want you to know that darkness you are, without the dark, the stars won't shine and so you can shine out if that darkness. You have been deprived so many right a child deserves and the world look down on you because you are nothing but a clot of blood miraculously turned a baby, and an unfortunate one at that. Good health, good foods or good education hasn't been in any way your chance to have. Looking at you disgusts not your brethren only but even strangers are not so impressed for your unhealthy appearance. Your strength; courage; and dreams are nothing but hallucination just because you were not supposed to dream big. I am sure nobody ever believed in whatever you say or do. You have been victimized by neighbors; friends; and even family members who were supposed to give you hope. This is my story, this is me and this is the hushpuppi you have been hearing about. The Ghetto kid in me is at Its peak and ready to explode and spread around the globe. I am you and you are me. I represent every under priviledge kid of the world and especially of Nigeria and of Lagos and of Bariga and of Oworonsoki — Where a landlord had chased me and my family out of a rented room. I'll never forget the look on my mother's face trying to send me and my

Continuation… me and my siblings to neighbors and relatives and the sadness in the eyes of my sibblings. Now, you see i represent you? Trust me I know how it feels to not have parents come watch you in school play football or run races in ur school, I know how it feels to come out your apartment to take showers in a zinc sheet bathroom separated from the building. The society made me who i am today, i was never one of those who their parents couldn't afford a movie ticket to see a movie when Silver bird cinema came newly, I shared shoes, toiletries and underwears with my younger ones as well as mats and see me now at my early thirties, i am writing you a letter from one of the favourite places any human alive would have loved to be, billionaire or penniless. Nobody is listening to your cries; your lamentation; and your grievances are not felt a bit. If i had sat down complaining about the bad government; bad economy ; bad friends, I will not be here today. I had a dream i was not supposed to cry, knowing nobody would listen, so i rose from the hood and decided to do the things my forefathers never did. I crossed the seas, walked through burning bushes, jumped over thorns and babbed wire. A lot of people know me from when I used to use okada to be selling "akube" clothes to boys that was making cheddars in diff hotels up and down the mainland of Lagos. Look at yourself, do you like the way you are right now? Are you pushing beyond limits? Are you succumbing to the tune of the selfish 'Baba Alaye' in your neighborhood? Nobody will help you if you decide not to help yourself even hailing Hushpuppi 1,000 wouldn't help you either, be about you, get up, pick a struggle, leave your comfort zone, work hard at it, pray a lot and don't kiss ass, rich people are users and inconsiderate. Dear hustling hood kid, let no man hold you down. My advice for you is never to put your dreams in the hands of Ambode and Buhari, they don't know you, they don't believe in you cos there's millions of people like you on their neck, it's not much they can do if they can even do anything at all so don't expect you will ever win or make it by waiting for anyone. I just want to see
