Jane Awindor known by her stage name Efya is a 26 years old Ghanaian born Neo Soul, Vocalist, Song Writer and Performer from Kumasi. She is born to Nana Adwoa Awindor, a filmmaker and celebrity host of the late television show Greetings from Abroad. She started singing with her Church choir at an early age; she attained prominence after her participation in the maiden edition of the Stars of the future talent where she came up runner-up. Efya and the winner (Irene Logan) secured a three year recording deal with the event company as a duet (Jane & Irene). The group did not stay long as they could only churn out an album; Unveiled, which was released in South Africa. After their contract Efya went solo. Having made her entrance onto the music scene through Charterhouse, Efya performed on all of the media giant’s concerts & events.
When her contract with Charterhouse ended, she free once more. So she began to juggle playing shows, and recording songs, while reading Theater Arts Directing & Music at the University of Ghana, Legon. During this period Efya was able to amass a small following until she signed with One Nation Entertainment in 2011, which took her efforts to new heights. Efya has played countless gigs averaging 2 or 3 appearances a week. She performed with artists such as Chris Brown and collaborated with various artists from all over West Africa and Africa. Her songs have gained her awards such as, Song of the year (Ghana Music awards 2013).
Efya is well involved in charity, as she is an official ambassador for the Awal’s Children Of The Future Foundation (ACOTF). The foundation aims to aid traumatized (physical and emotional) victims, particularly orphans and street kids.
